One thing I do believe is that it's better to ask for a woman's perspective on her lived experience than to not ask.

Many terrible things have happened because a woman's perspective has not been considered.

Mind you, no one's entitled to hear a woman's perspective. But making an assumption on a lived experience is also a form of entitlement.
