this isn't a cliche. This is a fantasy.
And it is a disrespectful, identity-destroying fantasy--for the bully.
And is that really even how you want the world to work? Do you really want every enemy to one day acknowledge you as a friend? Doesn't that make it worthless to be an enemy? Doesn't that remove any fire of emotion that you might have for any enemy in the moment?
Your bully, like a planet, like the planet Jupiter, has a mass and a momentum of his own, has a direction he's following to his principles (please forget about the sun for a moment). You shouldn't expect such things to change on a dime. What you should have thought was "oh boy, it's my bully! I hope he hasn't changed a bit!"
