Sending massive kudos to one of my favourite #Drag queens Chedder Gorgeous for turning down a nomination for an award at an event sponsored by BP and Shell 🙌

"With sadness, but necessary resolve I am unable to accept my nomination for @britishlgbtawards 'TV moment of the year' for my discussion of the Pink Triangle on @dragraceukbbc
The event unfortunately has a number of sponsors with questionable track records on climate change, racism and inequality, including @bp_plc and @shell. These two in particular have consistently failed to back up rhetoric of low carbon transition with actions to that effect.
It has always been my believe that drags visibility has a unique power to intentionally and unintentionally draw attention to issues that matter.
Whilst I recognise the importance of representation and celebrating our communities successes it should never be at the expense of others.
Given the nomination was offered for an act of creative advocacy, it wouldn't feel right to be part of the event knowing the damage these companies are still doing to the environment and communities most affected by climate change.
I wish to extend my thanks to all those that nominated me and to the panelists and organisers who I know have to balance moral platitudes to fund these events. However in this instance the cost of compromise was too great.
There can be no pride if there's no planet 🌱"
