Tech and unions: I don't have much more than intuitions and feelings here to go on, but my observations is that tech jobs developed in an era of rising neo-liberalism and diminishing union memberships, in a workplace where direct day-to-day on-the-floor cooperation is not obvious, sometimes resented. The job attracts individualists who seek less interactions with other people.
