      Following prolonged protests after a federal task force killed Winston Smith atop a parking ramp in Uptown Minneapolis, private security firm, CRG, Conflict Resolution Group started to provide armed patrols. Run by ex-mercenaries and hired by property owners, CRG members have assaulted, detained, surveilled, and threatened community members as well as helped to eradicate a community garden and grieving space, all while providing armed patrols in Uptown Minneapolis in concert with the Minneapolis Police. “It’s an evolution in repressive tactics,” says Michelle Gross, President of Communities United Against Police Brutality.
