Hanna Reitsch was an unusual exception. women were not generally accepted into the military, not as conscripts or officers. national socialist ideology wanted to protect women. they saw their primary task in rearing a new generation of Aryan Germans who could in turn die in battle. this was not too different from what was expected from German women during the second Reich. there the nazis were conservative.
