Why be so quick to throw away helpful connections and assistance on a whim? Take a long view, family ties will pay dividends 10,20,30, even 50 years from now as long as you invest in them. Not many families merit total excommunication or even broken ties, just a little distance, and you can buy that with a move until your kids come of age
