@empiricism you can totally do it! that’s the way the activitypub protocol is best used. The focus on ‘instances’ outside of your control is something mastodon added on top that (IMHO) is worse for end-users.

@freedomboxfndn tooling/devices can help you self-host on a little home server that you can plug into wall. Then you can point any domain name to your home server.
