Unix initially was a great operating system during it's time, but it's now dead though Berkeley, GNU, and others have decided to keep it alive, but rather than keep things consistent and in line with the unix philosophy they've decided to go their own ways. I don't like plan9 because it's obscure or anything, I like it because it did things right, the people who developed it knew what they were doing.
