    Heck, it’s not just consumer health & beauty! Why do scam diets sell?

    • Sense that problem is important
    • Sense of powerlessness
    • Experience w/frustration, failure, backsliding, breakdown
    • Peer pressure
    • Desperation for a simple answer

    All of that is a recipe for manufactured insecurity + hoax cures. And there’s a whole ••enterprise software industry•• that markets its services using exactly this strategy. Like diet pills for businesses.
