This is a useless and self-serving mode of enforcement. Twitter similarly announced changes this year, saying it would simply “demote” tweets from accounts trafficking in overt racism and hate going forward. All this really does is conceal what’s happening from the broader world, lessening the number of abuse reports these attacks generate, while doing nothing for the actual victims, left to fend for themselves behind a veil of ignorance.
