Yesterday i quickly restarted a critical system because some drivers stopped working.

Windows proceeded to spend 2.5hrs on the restart screen showing that spinning loop and just saying “Restarting…” :ablobfoxloading:

It then when to “Installing Updates 0%” and reached 100% in about 10 minutes then rebooted and was fine.

So I’m pissed off at Windows for taking two hours to do some mystery operation. I assume preparing for updates somehow, so I go and check its previous boot time.

Well this poor computer hadn’t been turned off since March so Windows was spending 2hrs preparing some 5 months worth of updates. Gonna need to remind people to restart these things once per week so it can do all that regularly…
