I wouldn't refer to having a browser that doesn't execute proprietary malware automatically as having "blocking" functionality really.
The article refers to a proprietary trick where an ad convinces a sucker to install 2 proprietary malware programs, with one with far more malicious features - rather than the ad itself being the malware, but I would say the ads JavaScript would qualify for that as well - so 3 proprietary malware programs I guess?
