March 31 is #TransgenderDayOfVisibility. In fact, it's the first such day where I'm actually out as a trans woman.
This year, I stopped lying about who I am and hiding from the world. In doing so, I learned the difference between surviving and living. Transitioning didn't save my life - it gave me the life I never had.
It's also the year where we’ve seen how dangerous visibility can be. Trans people are outrageously vilified, as monsters keep making shit up about "woke ideology" and "grooming." Some states are outlawing gender affirming care or forcing us into wrong bathrooms. Because we dare to live truthfully!
I dream of a world where we're visible not for being trans - but for being the remarkable people we are. :sparkling_trans_heart:
