Rowling and am feeling a little disappointed in the way Megan Phelps-Roper handled the interview with Contrapoints.
Contrapoints says he wants JK Rowling (and I'm assuming people who share her views) to try to see why so many trans people are angry and hurt by her views but how is that any different from any other time women are expected to put their needs and concerns to the side for another group? I wish Phelps-Roper would have brought something like that up.
Contrapoints stated he wants JK Rowling to "leave her position of feeling hurt and threatened" but are people who share Contrapoints' views willing to do the same? He states that trans people are being constantly rejected and humiliated by their families and having to fight for access to healthcare – women and girls are most likely to be killed by family or sexual partners and we're STILL fighting for bodily autonomy and being denied healthcare/abortions depending on where we live.
I just think Phelps-Roper could have made some much stronger points.
The next episode is supposed to feature Rowling's responses so hopefully some of this will come up.
