These TRApps are getting more and more common everywhere. I reject them and I won't even consider installing the supermarket's TRApp to "earn points" (which translates to: "get tracked and profiled"). I'd also rather walk a long distance than installing a TRApp to take a Silicon Valley cab or to take a ride with an Silicon Valley electric scooter. Unfortunately, not enough other people reject these non-free apps. As for the government using them - I think what could help would be a campaign like FSFE's "Public Money? Public Code!". However, where I live there is no impact of it. People need education about these topics, and articles like yours can help.
