I saw a post trending on HN about the #Docker situation where the advice is for folks to migrate to #GitHub. However, don’t forget that GitHub is a #Microsoft product and as such is open to the same kind of sudden policy changes. It’s a good moment to consider “really free” alternatives or self hosting where possible. This isn’t a new situation, the free tier of every corp is a component in their marketing toolbox. Be it with telemetry, free marketing, engagement, etc. One way or another, one ends up in their revenue funnel.
