After Musk's Twitter takeover in the fall of 2022, Many scientists and researchers who used Twitter for building valuable networks and communities started asking how to continue. SURF decided to help by offering educational organisations in their network to let them manage the technical side of Mastodon, so that there is a place where people could continue and rebuild their communities.
