Gotcha. The instructions you referenced in hhttps://social.kahachepe.org/notice/109164 are significantly less than helpful. I actually tried following those first, which contains refernces to a bunch of URLs that no longer contain the content that the instructions refernce, among other deficiences, and somehow I actually hosed the primary domain www.jimfulner.com doing so (though it could have been broken before that attempt I don't think I checked before I started tinkering), prior to finding that HostGator had already made available a "one click install" of GNU Social available via Softilicous. At least that worked for a minute, and its still there somewhere as the 404 page has the GS logo on the tab. I was just following up on the CONTACT link that my webhost host had provided by posting to @mattl https://gnusocial.jp/notice/2512429

I intend on trying again following the much more detailed and current instruction posted by @gnusocialjp https://gnusocial.jp/url/730310 whenever I get a chance (which with small children and my employer recently sending me a nastry grahm about using my PC for non-work related functionality) is probably not going to happen soon. :-(
