The "FOSS community" isn't a thing.

The free software community is in the floating city of GNU (since it had to be made and so we did), with some looking down at the proprietary ground from the high spires of the church of emacs.

The "open source" community is on the proprietary ground and is ruled by convenience - proprietary software is accepted into the camp and the temple, just as long as it is convenient enough (although the camp sometimes releases fully free software).


It makes no sense to group such different groups together and indeed, someone who likes the washy washy idea of "FOSS" isn't a true Scotsman.
