Got an email from Devin Ulibarri of the #FSF (@fsf) asking us Free Software fans to describe why we love Free Software. The email even shared a detailed recipe for how to make your own "I Love Free Software" #ILoveFS video just like this one, entirely with -- you guessed it -- Free Software :P I used the #GNOME Cheese webcam tool to record the video from my webcam, the #kdenlive video editing suite to stitch the template and video together and render it to the free and open #webm #OggVorbis format, and shared the finished product on #mastodon, a social network built on Free Software.
I was working #DoorDash tonight, and #TMobile had a nationwide outage that left me without signal. DoorDash's proprietary app totally barfed and clearly wasn't built with the "what do we do when loss-of-signal happens" edge case in mind, but since I had the addresses locally on my device already, I was able to load #OsmAnd, an offline maps and navigation suite that is Free Software, to complete the deliveries anyway! Happy customers, happy me.
I eventually made it back home, where I had internet, and tried to officially mark the deliveries as complete. At that point, DoorDash's app was still giving me trouble, saying I wasn't close enough to mark the deliveries as complete (duh) but also timing out when trying to get on the horn with support to explain the situation.
I'm sure their API endpoints and customer service lines are getting swamped due to this outage. Hopefully I don't get any automatic "contract violations" as a result of this. Nevertheless, I *did* take screenshots of my geo location in #OsmAnd as well as pictures of the delivery locations, so I've got receipts :)
