寮 (ryo@social.076.moe)'s status on Monday, 13-Feb-2023 11:28:50 JST寮 I know, which is exactly what I'm saying.
Same with everything else actually, kids growing up in that same time period could play games on higher difficulty levels no problem, and it was seen as a challenge.
Nowadays they need to have it as easy as possible and they still can't beat a video game, and difficulty is considered a bad thing somehow nowadays.
And I actually like those arcade games like Chunithm and Ongeki, because even though they're not necessarily hard, everyone here enjoys playing them on the highest difficulty level possible, to which the bad actors spectating get dismotivated from even trying.
Or well, not really the case with Maimai for whatever reason, and Taiko is pretty much a gaijin-only game at this point, because they're the only ones playing it now (and they don't seem to know how).
And Touhou has been kind of infiltrated too with much of its fanbase being people who never even played the games, probably many of which either don't even know they're games or saw JewTube videos about how hard it is and never even try, and only came for the fan made stuff.
Fortunately, Touhou itself is developed by a BDFL ( https://wikiless.northboot.xyz/wiki/Benevolent_dictator_for_life ), so he's probably not as volunerable to outside pressure as so many others are, plus as long as you don't use his art and music as-is and a few other rules, he lets his fans do with it whatever they want.
