Damn! Here's the lowdown - it's a great fantasy world for children but it isn't the best thought out universe. If you like your fantasy world-building to hold up under scrutiny then you won't like it. I loved it as a kid but it doesn't really hold up.

Lots of women (especially smart ones) seem to be majorly into Harry Potter and I cannot tell you exactly why it is. It's the female equivalent of Star Wars, basically.
