My dad kept pushing me to get an ADV bike or an obsolete 600cc dual-sport of some sort, but I wanted something light to keep it fun. The one I got reminds me a lot of riding a bicycle in terms of flickability on the road, so I can't wait to get into the mountains once the weather gets better. Oh, and despite being fuel-injected, it is finicky to start like a carbureted bike, but "dealing" with it became satisfying once I figured it out.
I haven't tried the Herse as a triple yet, but the Sugino XD series works pretty well in my experience, and you can still buy it new for not too much. (Sugino does still sell the Alpina triple, but it doesn't really buy you much over the XD.)
