I agree with spaceElf.
Food is the same issue for humans than for animals, if you can't eat it or don't know what it's made of, often your animals can't either.
I don't use feed because I don't know what's in it, what I buy are pre mixed bags of of dried and crushed cereals. And that's still not the best method, normally you should get separated bags of cereals and breaks/grind them yourself. then you put a portion of that in rain water 24hours before feeding your poultry.
Outside of that, the environment of the hen is also very important, does she see grass ? does she has enough space ? is it too cold ? is it too hot ? do you treat them for parasites ? (apple cider vinegar, diatomaceous earth) do you feed them something else than just cereals ? (I make them soup 1 time per week and add garlic to it), do they get the right amount of rocks/gavel in their digestive tracts to prevent certain deceases ? (Do you have granite in your soil) etc....
