    @dcz Unfortunately the only natural meaning of "open source" is source-available.
    It's very difficult to explain that "open source" is meant to refer to the 10 requirements of the "open source definition": https://opensource.org/osd (yes, clownflared and proprietary software in the form of JavaScript), so most people think on hearing "open source", that "the source is publicly available".

    The word free has semi-recently is commonly used incorrectly to mean things like; free of charge and also even for things that aren't even gratis, like 2 for the price of 1 deals, so tacking that onto "open source" is just a recipe for confusion and acceptance of proprietary software.


    With free software, all it takes to rectify any confusion is: "When I say free, I correctly use free to mean freedom, not incorrectly to mean free as in price" and any listeners will no longer be confused.
