I have the edison bulbs in similar styled lamps using black iron, and a large one as a fixture over this custom gaming table that we have in our game room. I worried that the flickering effect would irritate the shit out of me during long tabletop sessions, but they work surprisingly well. I'd advise finding one with a dimmer function, adjusting it for different needs helps a LOT.
