that is a strawman.
I'm very aware that the two poles I named are minorities rather the whole. most people don't even know the differences one way or another, and those are minds and hearts whose support the poles are struggling to win.
names matter, and those who have driven the corporate pushes for OSS and Linux in detriment of FS and GNU know it very well. demonizing our attempts to counter their propaganda are just another in the bag of tricks to maintain their dominance over the controlled opposition. why would someone who wishes to defeat us be worried that we're allegedly shooting our own feet to the point of asking us to stop?
show me someone complaining about these efforts of ours, and I'll show you either someone who cares deeply about names and knows that suppressing our voice ensures their propaganda prevails, or someone who doesn't know that and has fallen for their demonizing propaganda.
