I don't mean to invalidate your feeling nor your pain, but I hope the following can offer some relief (or additional pain, depending on how you take it). I'm sorry for your pain, and more so if I'm just about to make it grow, rather than relieving it as I hope.

a QT is just a single-button interface to combine two otherwise available features, namely quoting and commenting. consider:

    > it was used as a way of harassment.

that you posted, and my comments around it.

before QT was available as this combined feature elsewhere, people would just explicitly quote and comment in a single post.

so I question the perception that QT is a source of troublesome behavior. ISTM that it might have just as legitimately be blamed on the feature that enable people to post their own thoughts, quoting others or not. the association with QT is probably accidental, and whoever set out to harass you would have carried that out regardless of the feature.

but the problem IMHO is not in the feature, be it QT, be it posting in general, but in the harasser's behavior. trolls will search for and find ways to abuse systems, and every time we give up a useful feature because someone might put it to bad use, they defeat us a little (or a lot).
