I don’t have chance to meet EFF founder John P.B (who wrote the declaration, and passed away) but managed to make friends with EFF director and learn the 1st hand history. Aaron Swartz passed away b4 I moved to US but he did an amazing speech at UIUC and I watched that yrs ago;
