    21 December 1944 | The aerial photograph of the Auschwitz I & Auschwitz II-Birkenau camps taken on that day, little over a month before the liberation of the camp.

    At Auschwitz II-Birkenau:

    - fences & watchtowers of BIII sector were removed
    - in gas chamber & crematorium II: dirt from the roofs of underground spaces removed; chimney & crematorium roof demolished
    - fences of crematorium II & III were removed
