@thj the fedi is not democratic but in some ways that's actually preferable. The quality of a community is inversely proportional to its ease of adoption and this is proven many times over in every cultural space you can think of, including the normal surface web. Things were genuinely better prior to mass adoption of the "normal" internet. The fact that we're here and not there is a testament to that fact
