@ehproque Proper AC is not that expensive to run (heat pumps are very efficient), especially as a lot of people also have solar (like we do)

Often people keep houses to like 25°C or so.

Because we’re a real desert at night it usually cools down quite a lot.

Also a lot of the year it is very dry here (<20%), so you can use “swamp coolers” (basically a fan blowing into water, with the water evaporating extracting heat energy from the air, therefore actively cooling it) which are very cheap to run (really its just a fan and dripping water) and work quite well.
