From Joanne Conger on Facebook: Honestly, I am not sure I am ready for the memorial marking 25 years since 9-11. I remember saying to Bob as I got him out of bed with "Somethings happening." We watched as the morning news shows slowly began to realize what we were witnessing, live on TV.

It was a Tuesday before a large event that I was managing - the only fundraising event for a transitional shelter I was a fund developer for. There was no way we were going to be holding an event anytime soon.

My boss at the time - a woman responsible in some way for about 400 homeless women in Seattle - said to me that it may "take us a while to get back to normal."

"Gillian." I answered, "Nothing is ever going to be normal, again."

And I was as right as I had ever been, and will ever be in my lifetime.

Time is an absolutely screaming freight train.
