From NC’s Weather Authority on FB: 🥵 Are you ready? The heat is returning in a big way in the first week of September. A ridge of high pressure will build in across the state, leading to soaring temperatures back into the mid/upper 90s for most areas, with some spots breaking 100° as the actual high temperature. Heat index values will be higher; this will start Monday and last all next week into the Labor Day weekend. Limited storm chances due to the high pressure being more directly overhead. A little cooler in the mountains and along the coast but still hot and humid; there is really no end in sight for the foreseeable future.
