Tony's Opinion on Lindsay Clancy case:


Why do you think she did it?

Looking at the time line my guess is there was something between her and her husband and she didn't implicitly trust him. Then that underlying stress spiraled out of control, then the meds made her mentally snap.

My guess is she was one of the personality types that's high achieving but also high anxiety. And, there was something between her and her husband. He was a software sales rep, so lots of money. But all the sales people i've known have had some personality flaws. Like was he drinking, thc, other women, etc? But, i bet there was something between her and her husband because her main concern that started this is being apart from the new child and he wouldn't take a bottle. But husband was working from home so he was literally with the children all the time.

Then, when she was going to go back to work and the nanny showed up she probably started thinking :

"why do i feel this way? What is wrong with me? My husband is fine, i shouldn't be so anxioius?"

And then went to see a doctor who gave her pills. And then the pills kept her awake:

"Why can't I sleep, why am i so anxious about going back to work? I can't be like this, I'm a nurse and have a great career. I need to figure this out NOW"

** sees more doctors and takes more pills **

"why can't i sleep, why am I so anxioius? Now I for sure can't go back to work...why am i thinking about hurting my kids?"

** panicks and goes to in patient treatment

Then she got out and killed her kids, but after she checked herself out of inpatient treatment, she met with her psychiatrist 4 times and was documented as improving. Then she killed her kids.

Also, her behavior is sus. She was a nurse and she strangled the kids, and cut herself, took pills, and jumped out of the window to kill herself. If it was pre meditated i feel like she wouldn't have failed so miserably.

Anyway, that's why I think not guilty. I think a combination of her personality, circumstances, imperfect relationship, and having a buncha different doctors with not one of them having the full picture caused her to snap. Also, throwing the woman in prison doesn't really accomplish anything as far as public safety is concerned and I think its overly cruel. She should be in an impatient secure facility.
