I know that everyone was begging for another hot take, so I’ll relent and give mine. Apologies for the rant and typos
A while ago I heard on a podcast, from people I respected at the time, that they were starting a political party. Extremely recently they had, I had, we all had denounced party politics as “there is no poltical solution”. When asked directly about this the answers were scattered. It came down to: We should to do something and this is something so we should do it. I was extremely disheartened. It’s a major factor in why I stopped listening to that otherwise great podcast. (That and their insistence to comment on Ukraine rather than having the humility to acknowledge their own ignorance (I treat Gell Mann amnesia extremely seriously)).
Anyways, even now it seems like a waste of time. I’m sure everyone involved is sincere. In sure they’re really trying to do the right things. However, I personally am not going to throw good money after bad supporting a group established on a faulty premise (seeking political solution).
My suspicion is that all of this has grown out of the hard problem of institution building. I am not nearly as successful as the “party” in terms of moobment building, so who am I to talk, but I’ve felt a similar sting. (https://poa.st/notice/AM7ASAfMNuMCBsMPU8). Simply getting racist people in a room isn’t a solution. Defaulting to what you know makes sense, but I refuse to fold like that
Ultimately, at the current time, I perceive the rights inability to offer anything material and inability to build institutional strength as our current greatest threats and obstacles. Like many of the great men of the 20th century we can learn from the left and personally I think more meaningful and achievable solutions will come from:
- streamlining the onboarding process from libertarian to one of us (as opposed to getting spammed 15 year old infographics with star of davids on them) (y’know like actually addressing their priors and explaining how their beliefs are only true in a certain Anglo context)
- documenting, archiving, and teaching the lessons that the big brains have learned (as opposed to having to listening to 600 hours of podcasts to understand an extremely poor explanation of a cliche idea)
- creating guides on diet, history, fitness, family, finance, preparation, networking, etc so that the sad lonely 14 year old incel can be transformed into a useful asset (we should encourage each other to embody and image our beliefs)
- create entertainment content that isn’t explicitly political, but starts with the presupposition of out beliefs (rather than the crap that passes for entertainment these days) (we need to create subcultures that are worth joining on their own merits)
- relentless and brutal engagement with the enemies ideas demolishing and mocking them. Not just “reacts” and “hot takes” on conservative garbage but serious attempts to poach disaffected socialists and anarchists and bring them to our way of thinking (I think this stems from the modern extreme right actually just being very racists Republicans with Nationalist policies, rather than being Nationalist and anti capitalist)
- expand the discussion and offence not just from muh nigger, muh jew, muh two party to actually include issues that affect the common man or reflect our values: memes, essays, podcasts, videos, etc discussing the failure of the powers that be to address soil depletion, plastic in the ocean, no fault divorce, the affects of birth control and formula, the shortcomings of feminism (for women), the value and supremacy of western paradigm and ideas, the oppressive and abusive behaviour of big business, workers plights and rights, etc
- the creation of IRL solidarity networks like seasol that can create change, help local people, and build the strength required for further works
- independent activity beyond sticker drops (terrible ROI) and protests in public, we should instead [FEDPOST]??
Just to drunkenly name a few
Anything that doesn’t attempt to address the actual problems that we face (I don’t mean talk about I mean chip away at) isn’t worth my time. I’m just going to ignore it. Either it will become meaningful enough to warrant later attention or it won’t. We shouldn’t argue with these people, we should shoulder to the boulder until we know who’s right.
Reached the word count, so that’s all you get, lol
