So interesting. I took a walk down memory lane via google maps to see what's become of where I used to live in the late 60s / early 70s outside of Urbana, IL. The old farmstead is long gone but my elementary school is still there and the jr. high is now a middle school with a name change. I noticed the name "Mira" outside of town and recalled us kids riding our bikes from the farm down to "Mira Station," the old grain elevator. Inside the elevator's office, we could buy little glass bottles of pop like Coca-Cola or Yoo-Hoo for a coin, maybe a nickel or dime. And we could sit in there and listen to the farmers gossiping. Anyway, I found an article on Mira Station, which is now long gone. There are a couple of old pictures showing the farmers hanging out in the office. No pics of three sweaty little kids sitting off to the side with their pop. https://www.champaigncountyhistory.org/single-post/myra-il-part-ii-myra-station-historic-expansion-and-a-tragic-end
