- Embed this noticeThe boy has been playing with the belt sander and working on some of the knives I helped him forge. We've done about ten or so railroad spike knives so far. I'm wanting him to work on railroad spikes first because I have several thousand of them, they don't need time and effort to get fancy handles, and it's a good way for him to learn the basics of blade geometry without wasting good high carbon steel. I'm quite pleased with his progress.
