The issue with quote posts is that they are a special *thing* instead of just links that are decorated by the backend and then drawn (for anyone that *wants* that) as little clickaable boxes on the frontend. The UI wouldn't have to change for any of the fluoridated clients and it would gracefully degrade and it would act less fucking retarded. You know how fedibbs does this? `,` is used to find posts by URL, you see a link to another post and you type `,` and paste the URL then you see it; bloat works the same with the search box. These are URLs and every time there is a URL, fedi motherfuckers invent a new and different way to treat that URL and they never manage to use it like a link. Why just one? Why does it need special fields? Nobody thought about it.
