PepsiCo did not simply “remain present” in Russia.
It kept a large industrial footprint: 19 plants, around 60,000 employees, and $4.5 billion in Russian revenue in 2024 alone, according to B4Ukraine/KSE figures.
If all taxes and payments generated by its Russian operations are considered — not only profit tax, but also VAT, payroll taxes, social contributions, customs duties and fees — PepsiCo may have contributed around $1–2 billion to Russia’s budget during the four years of war.
This is the uncomfortable question:
how can a company speak of responsibility while helping finance the budget of an aggressor state?
