About 80% of the factors that determine how long you live are in your control a new report says.

The entertaining part of this is there is a segment of society which wants to make excuses for themselves and others as to why they can't/don't/won't be successful/in control:

"The claim, however, has been described as simplistic and said to neglect wider arguments about whether people are genuinely in control of individual choices when it comes to issues including poverty, pollution and healthcare access. "

I'll be the first to admit I can be pretty darn lazy when it comes to my health. While I don't smoke, drink, or run to Manchester, NH to fuck 'street walkers' (prostitutes) every other weekend I also don't exercise or eat healthy.

Or that is to say I haven't been great in those areas.

It's not someone else's fault though. As I get older it's something that I was aware I'd eventually have to confront head on. I am 'pre-disposed' to diabetes given my family history and frankly a few bad habits.

However I'm waiting for it to become a real issue. Hell no, I've begun figuring out how to drastically change my diet and survive, and figured out how to exercise without it being "too much".

Did it take a few visits to a doctors office? Sure. I didn't get it right the first 3-4 times... but with a bit of effort and some questions and clearer understanding of what steps I can take I've begun to see major changes.

It doesn't take quick fixes or miracle cures you see on TV.

No, more often, than not it just takes a bit of effort, a relocation, and not over-indulging.

If you think I have it good you'd be right, but it's cause I relocated from NJ to NH where cost of living makes sense relative to income and taxes are "low".
