Now spinning, the original Star Wars original score (1977). Listening notes:
- I love how sloppy it sounds compared to later soundtrack, it sounds like the entire London Symphony Orchestra went out drinking one Friday night, kept it going all through Saturday, slept four hours, dragged themselves out of bed at seven in the morning, and ground out the whole album in one take because it’s a fucking space wizard movie but a job’s a job mate. Nevertheless such consummate pros that they still did a solid job full of manic energy. True punk (approbative)
- Try to pick up when they play the wrong notes. There’s one off key clarinet fart in Leia’s Theme that gets me every time
- Those horns are old school tinny like on Toscanini’s recording of La Boheme. Tasty
- John Williams loves some flute noodling
- The end credits reprise: so nice they play it twice
- Nobody knows how to end Cantina Band #1
