I ended up deciding to use old motherboard stand offs from my bin of disused fasteners. Drilled some pilot holes a bit smaller than the thread diameter, then used an appropriate amount of force. Got the relay board attached just fine. The question is whether the Raspberry Pi I attached it to will survive.
