A surprisingly common opinion I found talking to evangelical Christians is "women shouldn't be in leadership positions of any kind, shouldn't teach, and should only do household work."

They think they are being based but their opinions are regressive by any historical standard.

You have to understand that womens' power throughout history was mostly through their husbands. It was uncommon for them to hold power directly, however they held a lot of indirect power.
