    #Journal of a happy Dutch Pixy :pixy_party: (Monday, 27/04/2026)

Koa had gone to bed without too much of a hassle. He didn’t howl like the previous night, but he did whine when he was crated. I sat with him for a while, until he got calmer, and I went to bed myself. After some time, Koa fell asleep, and so did I. When Koa woke me up, it was almost 5 hours later! He had done an amazing job, sleeping so long in one go. We went outside, and Koa did his business. We cuddled a while, and he whined a wee bit when he got crated again. About three hours later, Koa was awake again, and he let me know he had to go. So we quickly went outside, where he did both numbers one and two.

I prepared his meat, went to the scale, and weighed myself, and then Koa and me. The difference was 7,2kg (about 15,87lbs), so he had gained some weight since the last time I tried to weigh him this way. Then, he does love his meals… He recognizes when I am preparing them, and he gets all nuts about it then. 😂 Anywhoo, I got dressed, prepped the rest of Koa’s food, and made him a happy boy by putting the bowl down. I’ve been spoiling him, I guess, as he’s been getting some meat with his kibble since day two, When he was happily eating, I got my laptop. I ordered some new tins of meat for him, as he loves it so much, that I want to give it to him with every meal. I know he can just eat plain kibble, and he’d be OK, but yeah… Arwen always got some meat with her kibble, and I feel I should do the same for my boy. I ordered 6 tins of meat, three from each taste, and I ordered a smaller “anti-schrokbak”, it’s a kibble bowl with some bits in it, that make it harder for the pup/dog to devour the food in one go (I think it’s called a slow-feeder in English? 🤔). As Koa eats his meal so quickly, I hope that this bowl will help him to not eat too fast.

I had to crate Koa for a while, as he was getting too mischievous, and I could not use my laptop while constantly having to rescue my curtains, carpets, and even the glass table wasn’t safe from his teeth. I managed to finish my journal toot, and work a bit on my blog. I had some posts written in advance, but I was quickly running out, so I have to find a way to write some more again. I have a great streak, and while it doesn’t really mean anything, still, I would not want to break it… But as I write this, my posting streak is 2.143 days long, which is about 306 weeks, which translates to about 5,86 years! So yeah, I would not want to break that streak, as I am actually rather proud of it. I usually struggle to keep something going once I’ve started it, so a streak of almost 6 years, it’s a huge accomplishment for me.

I went out with Koa, and I filmed him strutting around the neighborhood. I think he wanted to impress the people that would see the video, as he did a great job with this little round. The rest of the time, I tried to work a bit on my blog, I played a bit with Koa, and also, Koa surprised me twice! First, he lay down at my feet, and he slept there for a while! Of course, I was stiff as a hark, as I didn’t dare to move, as I didn’t want to wake him up. And after a short walk, he went under the couch, and slept there for a while (without the usual nibbles on the couch…).

We had some nice walks, I had to crate him a few times, and then, with dinner time, Koa did something new: after he’d finished his meal, he came to me, wagging his little tail off, with his bowl in his mouth, like he wanted to show me what a good boy he’d been. Or maybe he wanted me to know that there was nothing left, and he’d like some more. 😂But, he did this after his afternoon meal, and also after his evening meal. Silly boy!

We got ready to head to bed a bit earlier. I was so tired, and didn’t know how long it would take to settle Koa down for the night. We went outside, he did his things, I tried to play a little with him to tire him out. We prepared everything for the night, and I sat with Koa for a while. When he had settled down, I went to bed. There were a few more short whines, and then he slept… And I was still awake, and my ADHD was so busy that I needed to take some extra medicine to calm down, so I could sleep as well.

Koa woke me up again around 2:30, so he had slept for about 5½ hours. We went out, he did his thing, and after just a wee bit of whining he fell asleep again. He woke me up again around 4:15, and he did another wee. I was hoping for a bit more sleep, so I tried to get him to sleep again, which he did. When he woke me up again, it was 6am. So a nice time to get up! And, in the end, according to my watch, I got a total of about 7¾ hours. I let Koa out, prepped his meat, got to the scale, and that’s how we started our day.

Thanks to all for your kindness and support during my "journey through daily life" :bear_love: I really appreciate it 💜 as it helps me to keep going on bad/harder days! :bear_nuzzle:
