A barrel of oil represents about 1.6 MWh of usable energy (depending on how it's processed, of course). Battery storage LCOE is $65 per MWh (over its expected lifetime). Plus, batteries enable a daily volatility arbitrage a fossil power plant will never achieve.

Trolling aside, battery storage levelized cost of energy is about $65 per MWh, so roughly $100 per barrel of oil equivalent. Ideally stored right where it is needed, no transportation required. https://ember-energy.org/latest-insights/how-cheap-is-battery-storage/
