So... assume for a moment that one purchased some bicycles in a "pig in a poke" auction, and one of them turned out to have no caliper brakes, a rusty chain, flat tires, and a rusty saddle post. Before lie two options:
1. Restore minimal function at minimal cost, because $5 bike was too good to be true anyway.
2. The regular bike function is toast, so might as well upgrade it to DIY e-bike now.
