@rosey the core thing i disagree with is that somehow what gets installed from the google play store is more secure than what gets installed from outside of it. this place google as an authority for what are the good apps and what are the bad apps. this is very wrong
the root of trust should be configurable for any user, without any special permissions. for some it might be a techie friend, for others it might be some local service, for yet others it might be an online community. but a big tech corporation is fundamentally untrustworthy here and they should not get any authority. not one tiny bit
in addition to this, i feel this is google flexing their power and eventually they will go further. even what they are doing now is completely unacceptable. people shouldn't even need to enable a setting to enable installing from outside the play store
