🇫🇷 Bonjour!

Sortie culturelle pour moi aujourd'hui, pour d'autres, ce seront les réjouissances du mardi-gras. Pas de neige comme sur cette photo de la gare d'Athus 🇧🇪 en février 2018 mais sans doute de la pluie... On fera avec. 🙂

On pourrait s'étonner de la grandeur du bâtiment de la gare, ça tient au fait d'un passé lointain où elle était gare frontière et il fallait donc des bâtiments pour les services de la douane. On pouvait rejoindre Arlon 🇧🇪 Virton 🇧🇪 Rodange 🇱🇺 et Longwy 🇫🇷 au départ d'Athus sans parler de l'important trafic marchandises lié à la sidérurgie.

Cultural day out for me today, for others, it will be the Mardi Gras celebrations. No snow like in this photo of Athus🇧🇪 railway station in February 2018 but probably rain... 🙂

One might be surprised by the size of the station building, the answer is to be found in the past when it was a border railway station and therefore the customs needed their own buildings . From Athus it was possible to get to Arlon,🇧🇪 Virton, 🇧🇪 Rodange 🇱🇺 and Longwy 🇫🇷 and freight traffic was important with all the steel industries in the whole area.
